Boot Camp Pre-Assessment

Last night I attended my boot camp pre-assessment night where we met the trainers and fellow camp goers and learnt a little information about what we had signed up for!

 The trainers started by introducing themselves, Terri and Grace. They are both very nice ladies and I can tell they are going to push us hard!! One thing I really liked about both of them is that they didn’t always have a banging body and were not blessed with an amazing physic from day one. They both had to work hard to get to where they are now, they both started off as heavier girls and had troubles through their whole life, so instead of being on of the blessed lucky ones they worked hard which means I know they are dedicated to what they are doing.

 We all got weighed and measured to see what our starting point is and after the 6 weeks they will do the same to see what progress we made. Terri made a big point of the fact that after this boot camp they are no longer using scales as they don’t believe weighing yourself shows how fit you really are.  It doesn’t matter what you weigh, as long as you are happy with how you look and how fit you are, the rest is just numbers on a silly little scale.

 The last part saw us doing 3 simple physical tests so that after the 6 weeks we can do the same tests to see if our fitness has improved. The first test was to see how many squats you can do in 1 minute, they had you pair up and your partner would hold a chair and you had to squat down until your bum touched the chair. The second test was how many star jumps you could do in 1minute being sure that your hand touched on the way up. The last test was a plank and for those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s when you are in a push up position but instead of being on your hand you are on your elbows and forearms and you hold that position for as long as you possibly can. This is something that I usually struggle with when I am at home but let me tell you being in a group environment with a trainer pushing you on is amazing!!! I got a Personal Best of 4 minutes!!! I have never before in my life been able to do that! And imagine that this was only the assessment, just think of what I will be able to do after the 6 weeks!!

 I cannot wait! Let the fitness begin J
